GENERAL MANAGER

The Tangerine Motel Starkville, MS

The Tangerine Motel is a new, small family owned boutique property located just outside Starkville. With just 18 rooms, we are searching for a General Manager who can take and expand our initial vision of delivering a unique, family owned, high touch experience for our guests. Situated adjacent to the Hill and Moor event center, The Tangerine provides the ideal array of amenities to enhance special events and weddings.

The role of a General Manager involves supervising every aspect of motel operations, including sales, marketing, and representing The Tangerine / The Hill and Moor within the community. They are directly responsible for ensuring the efficiency of both housekeeping and front office functions. Moreover, they oversee procurement and actively participate in the hiring and integration of new staff members.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or Business is a plus.

Previous General Manager experience is preferred.

Full service Food & Beverage experience preferred.

Equivalent experience is acceptable. 2-5 years as Assistant General Manager or other hotel management role.

The General Manager must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and hotel management systems.

The General Manager must have effective oral and written communication skills and must be able to work a flexible work schedule as the hours for this management position will vary.

Responsibilities

Represent the hotel in a professional, knowledgeable, and eloquent manner.

Dress appropriately in business attire always.

Ensure compliance with all Brand standards.

Maintain an impeccably clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere inside and out.

Develop and execute both a short- and long-term operating plan to meet or exceed budgeted fiscal performance goals.

Ensure an operating environment that will maximize guest satisfaction.

Meet or exceed customer service standards as measured by brand inspections, brand survey reports and social media reviews. Respond to all reviews and initiate corrective action when necessary.

Establish a presence in the community through participation in local events, associations and community service projects.

Continually recruit, train, and monitor staff. Ensure proper staffing levels on each shift.

Create and maintain a pleasant, safe, and mutually respectful work environment. Continually interact with and motivate all staff members.

Establish and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000-$55,000

Bonus for financial and guest satisfaction results when met and/or exceeded
